Equality and Diversity

At Kids Academy nurseries in United Arab Emirates we believe that the day nursery and preschool activities should be open to all children, their families and to all adults committed to their welfare. We aim to ensure that all that wish to work in, or volunteer to help with our nursery have an equal chance to do so.

We work in accordance with all relevant legislation, including: Disabled Persons Acts 1958 & 1986, Race Relations Act 1976, Sex Discrimination Act 1986, Children Act 1989.

It is our intention to make our nursery genuinely accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community.

In order to accomplish this we will:

  • arrange our waiting list on first come first served basis
  • have a minimum requirement of one full day or two ½ days
  • ensure that the existence of the nursery is widely known in all local communities. We will place notices advertising the day nursery and preschool in places where all sections of the community can see them
  • make our Equal Opportunities widely known
  • try to accommodate the children’s/families’ needs whenever possible

The nursery will appoint the best person for each job.

Admissions Equality and Diversity

Families joining the day nursery and preschool are made aware of the equal opportunities policy.

The Curriculum

All children will be respected and their individuality and potential recognised, valued and nurtured.

Activities and the use of play equipment offer children opportunities to develop in an environment free from prejudice and discrimination.

Appropriate opportunities will be given to children to explore, acknowledge and value similarities and differences between themselves and others.

Special needs

The nursery recognises the wide range of special needs of children and families in the community, and will consider what part it will play in meeting these needs.

These will be chosen to give children a balanced view of the world and an appreciation of the rich diversity of our multi-racial society.

Materials will be selected to help children develop their self-respect and to respect other people by avoiding stereotypes and derogatory pictures or messages about any group of people.

Bilingual/multilingual children and adults are an asset. They will be valued and their language recognised and respected in the day nursery and preschool.

Medical and dietary needs

Medical, cultural and dietary needs will be met.
